Student Fee Waivers:
Entry fees may be waived for students currently enrolled in an accredited high school, college or university. Please email us at rahwayfilmfest@gmail.com with either (i) a photo/scan of a valid student ID or (ii) a letter verifying enrollment from a valid school e-mail address. If eligible, we will email a unique promo code that can be used to waive entry fees on the online submission websites above.
Women in Film:
We encourage the progress and success of women in the film industry. If your film boasts a woman in any of these roles: Director, Screenwriter, Lead Producer- this is your category.
By submitting to this category, you may also become eligible for our "Woman in Film Award" where you may join the likes of past recipients: Piper Perabo, Susan Sarandon and Dena Seidel.
Multiple films from this category may be selected for competition but only one filmmaker will be honored as our "Woman in Film 2017".
New Jersey Filmmakers:
NJ-based filmmakers are eligible for a discounted submission fee. Director, Screenwriter, and/or Lead Producer must be a current resident of NJ for eligibility.
Screenplay Competition:
Short screenplays, under 20 pages. Any genre will be accepted. 1-2 winning scripts will be chosen. Winning screenplays will receive a staged reading of their script, to be cast by festival directors. Reading will be performed to festival audience.
The readings will be filmed and provided to the writer after the festival.
Monologue Competition (Local Actors):
Actors of all ages may submit ONE video consisting of two monologues. 1 comedic and 1 dramatic. Actors must be available for the entire festival weekend. Winning actor/actress will be cast in a staged reading of a short film (that of our short screenplay competition).
Winning actor/actress will also have the opportunity to moderate one of the festival Q&A sessions with filmmakers. Video of performances
Selected Filmmakers:
Filmmakers will be notified by August 1, 2017 on final selection status. All selected filmmakers will receive one all-access pass to all screenings and events for either Saturday or Sunday.

Theme:
We believe that film can reach the mind and soul in ways nothing else can. We are seeking works that inspire empathy and awareness through film. We have presented films that educate, promote equality, champion the oppressed and promote open-mindedness. In keeping with equality, we also strive to present an equal ratio of films created by male and female filmmakers from around the world.

All feature and short films showcased at Rahway International Film Festival are entered into competition, unless noted as a special presentation. All eligible awards are listed below. Winners are decided by a panel of judges prior to the film festival, with the exception of the Audience Choice Award which is voted live by festival attendees. RIFF 2017 RULES & REGULATIONS
ENTRY REGULATIONS:
Rahway Film Festival is open to U.S. and international entries. Submissions for RIFF 2017 will be accepted until the regular deadline of May 20, 2017 with a late deadline of June 20, 2017 via our exclusive submission platform, Film Freeway. Entrants will be notified via online submission platform and/or e-mail by August 1, 2017 if their work has been officially selected for festival screening. All submission material must be clearly marked with the title of the film, online submission platform tracking number and contact information. Only complete applications will be considered. A complete application includes the screener, submission fee and other materials.
Applicants who submit to a category for which they are not eligible in order to evade the appropriate fee will be disqualified. Any questions regarding eligibility may be directed to info@rahwayfilmfest.com
Officially Selected Works: If officially selected for festival screening, filmmakers will be contacted via online submission platform and/or email for next steps in late-August, 2017. Final filmmakers must send a high quality digital screener via online submission platform and/or e-mail to rahwayfilmfest@gmail.com using a file transfer website (such as DropBox, WeTransfer, etc). Filmmaker must assist festival in film promotion. Filmmaker attendance is strongly encouraged.
Category, screening time, date, venue and format determination is at sole discretion of Rahway International Film Festival. Once accepted, a film may not be pulled from the Festival by the filmmaker for any reason whatsoever. Filmmaker agrees to comply with all requirements. Filmmaker agrees to abide by Festival code of conduct. If accepted, filmmaker will be available to help promote the film. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.
Whenever possible, programs with non-English soundtracks should be submitted with subtitles. All selected films will be screened in public venues.
To be eligible for consideration:

Entrants must comply with all of these Entry Rules & Regulations, including deadline(s) and entry material requirements, and selected film requirements.

Non-English language works must have English subtitles but should retain the original language audio.

Student films eligible for fee waivers must be produced by a student enrolled in an accredited school (high school, college, or graduate school). The entry fee for film submissions may be waived if the application is accompanied by proof-of-enrollment at an accredited university which can be either (i) a copy of a valid student ID or (ii) letter verifying enrollment from an accredited college or university.

Entry materials will not be returned.

Multiple entries will be accepted provided they are submitted individually. You may resubmit films submitted in the past that were not accepted as long as the film has been completed in the past 5 years.

If we select your film, you will need to provide:

An exhibition copy of the invited work in one of the specified digital formats: .AVI (Audio-Video Interleaved), .FLV (Flash Video), .MOV (Quicktime), .MPG (MPEG or MPEG2), .WMV (Windows Media).

Digital Press Kit - including film stills, a synopsis, production credits, and director and writer bios. Note that if materials are not submitted by the applicable deadline, RIFF reserves the right to secure substitute materials from other sources.

We prefer the highest possible quality media. If invited, you must be able to provide one of the aforementioned formats.

REPRODUCTION AGREEMENT:
Submission of an entry gives Rahway Film Festival full rights to have accepted work exhibited, photographed, locally telecast, and reproduced in part or in full, for promotional purposes.
LIABILITY:
Filmmaker shall indemnify and hold Rahway [International] Film Festival harmless from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and/or loss of or damage to the screening videos submitted. In particular, filmmaker expressly warrants it has obtained all necessary copyright clearances for original works of authorship used in the film.
